Kara Johnson Received an Academic Excellence Award from WCHS
WESTERVILLE, OH—On September 4, 2014 at Westerville Central High School (WCHS), Kara Johnson received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 4.0 or higher cumulative GPA in the three previous academic years. She also received a Certificate of Excellence for achieving a perfect score of 5 on an Advanced Placement Exam (AP). As a member of the AP High 5 Club her name will be placed on a banner that will hang at the school during the 2014-2015 academic year.
On September 11, 2014 Kara received notice that she qualified as a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist. She is one of 16,000 chosen nationwide from the 1.4 million high school students who took the PSAT during their junior year. She also qualified as a National Achievement Scholarship Semifinalist, a scholarship that recognizes outstanding Black American High School students. National Merit Finalists will be chosen in the Spring of 2015 for some 7,600 scholarships. A banner will permanently hang at her high school recognizing her National Merit achievement. Kara is currently a senior at WCHS and had a 4.8 cumulative GPA at the end of her junior year.
Kara is the daughter of Jenny and Steve Johnson and 3rd great granddaughter of Tate Cornute.
