Russell E Hairston Steps into Retirement
CINCINNATI, OH—Russell E. Hairston, retired from the Department of Trade and Development, City of Cincinnati, Ohio after a distinguished thirty-three years of service as their Housing Division Manager for the Department of Community and Economic Development.
Russell started working for the City of Cincinnati as a Development Specialist in 1982 and performed in that capacity for eight years. He continued to work hard and was rewarded with a promotion to Senior Community Development Analyst in 1990 and continued that job until he became the Supervising Housing Development Analyst in 2009.
Russell was ultimately promoted to the city’s Housing Division Manager position in 2012 where he accumulated much praise and awards for his performance. Over the past three years he was awarded the Audrey Nelson Community Development Achievement Award and the Ohio Conference of Community Development (OCCD) President’s Award for 2014 and 2015.
Along with his vast expertise which spans the entire Community Development spectrum; Russell has a Master’s degree in Community Planning from the University of Cincinnati, College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning (DAAP) and is a certified Economic Development and Housing Finance Professional.
Although Russell has retired from his job of thirty-three years with the City of Cincinnati he has decided that he’s not quite ready to sit on the couch. Given this, he has launched his own business venture called RH Consulting where he intends to offer his vast knowledge to cities and neighborhoods who require his community planning and development skills.

Russell is the son of Hortense and Edward Hairston and 2nd great grandson of Tate Cornute.
